Currently the Daughters of the American Republic only accepts Y-DNA as evidence of lineage. Hopefully autosomal DNA also will be accepted in the next few years.
For the current policy about how Y-DNA can be used for DAR applications, see DAR and DNA Applications.
On August 26th, the DAR Registrar General emailed ” ‘Sunrays’ from the Registrar General.” This email discussed new projects aimed at moving toward the acceptance of autosomal DNA for applications. If you are a DAR member, and you or another descendant of your patriot have taken an autosomal DNA test, you can be a part of these projects. There is a group at FamilyTreeDNA and a Facebook group you can join. See the email referenced above for details.
