Liane Jensen has a passion for family history.  She has been learning about family history for over 25 years.  Her formal genealogy training includes:

• National Genealogical Society (NGS) Home Study Course on American Genealogy
• Advanced Genealogy Methods class at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG), 2018
• ProGen Study Group 35, completed November 2018
• All-DNA Advanced Evidence Analysis Practicum, SLIG, 2019

She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG).

Her research interests include DNA, sharing genealogy with children, Midwestern genealogy, and Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) lineage applications.  Her formal training is in engineering and computer science (BS EECS, UC Berkeley; MS EE, Stanford); she loves to find patterns and analyze.

Liane was fortunate to be a child with the American Girl series of books was first published, sparking an interest in history.  She read Meet Kirsten with her grandfather and learned that one of her ancestors had a similar  journey to America.  That along with a booklet on her direct paternal line sparked an interest in genealogy.  She was fortunate to be raised by a computer enthusiast, who gave her one of the very first versions of Family Tree Maker to install on her computer.  She has been recording her ancestors and researching ever since.  They lived near one of the National Archives branches, where she and her father spent precious, memorable trips reeling through microfilm in search of ancestors.

In 2016 one of her favorite bloggers, Dick Eastman, wrote a post inviting other genealogists to blog as well.  She considered it, but wasn’t sure.  That same week she happened to watch the movie The Rookie for the first time, and was struck by the line, “it was ok to think about what you want to do until it was time to start doing what you were meant to do.”  It stuck with her.  And this blog was born.

Liane educates herself on genealogy topics and researches often.  She lives with her family in the San Francisco Bay Area.
