In the DNA area I am particularly interested two of the talks lined up for Thursday, Diahan Southard’s talk and Dana Drutman’s talk on MyHeritage DNA. (I have tried out MyHeritage DNA, and find the fact that MyHeritage trees show women’s married names particularly unhelpful for DNA searches. Maybe she will have some helpful tips.) On Friday Judy Russell, The Legal Genealogist, is giving a talk on female line research. Crista Cowan from Ancestry may give some insider tips on searching on their site at her session on Saturday.
I am looking forward to hearing from Levar Burton on Friday. I loved Reading Rainbow as a child and also later enjoyed watching him in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He is also one of my few star sightings, at a graduation at my high school. I am curious to see Jonathan and Drew Scott; I watched many, many Property Brothers episodes while planning our home renovation. Curious to see their tie-in to the genealogy community.
It should be a fun event. Hope you can join us.
